Gold Mop Cypress, Superstar!

Gold Mop in front border

Gold Mop Cypress brightening up the front garden

I planted a Gold Mop Cypress in my front garden about 4 years ago and it added a bright spot of color to our yard. While considered an evergreen, it is actually a vibrant glowing shade of yellow gold that lasts throughout the year. When you examine Gold Mop’s foliage, it appears fine and feathery and the branches grow out from its center like a fountain. This growth pattern gives it a touseled and casual look that adds contrast to the landscape. I especially like this shrub in winter and early spring because it adds color when everything else is so drab.

Gold Mop Cypress is one of those shrubs that you can just plant and not have to worry about. It is very hardy and trouble free with good drought resistance. It thrives in full sun but will tolerate partial shade and the deer in my yard have not bothered it. I liked this shrub so much that last year I bought two more so now I have a whole Gold Mop family.
